The Stats

The Scenario

We stopped in to the Gilded Otter not soon after they opened for the day on a weekend. It was not very crowded and we were seated promptly in the dining area. Having seen the unique round circle on which they serve flights, we knew we had to get one. Kyle had been here previously and recommended we order the cheese curds, which turned out to be a solid idea. Between the cheese curds, the sandwiches, and the beer we ordered, we were extremely full and everything was delicious.
The one thing that strikes you about this place is how big it is. With both indoor and outdoor seating and what seems to be an upstairs area, along with the bar, it has plenty of spots to enjoy a meal, an appetizer, or just a few beers. In a hipster/artsy town as New Paltz is, this place is definitely a keeper.

K: 1/5 - Every stout I drink tastes like an ash tray so...

Wee Heavy Scotch Ale
K:4/5 - Sweet and malty. Really good!

Centennial Barley Wine
K: 1.5/5 - Far too strong for me.

Black & Tan (Stout and Pale Ale)
K: 1/5 - Really not my thing.

Doc's Draft Cider
K: 4/5 - Really good cider. Well balanced.

Final Thoughts

K: I've actually been here before and each time it's a solid experience. I really wish they would have had a wheat ale or a hefeweizen on tap this time but the beers today were solid and I found a few that I definitely enjoyed. The space is huge and has plenty of parking. Overall a definite spot you should check out!
D: Good spot with some really good food and good beers to try. We will likely be back if we're in the area. I can't resist those curds!
