Neither Beer nor There: Craft Beer Tasting Sail

Image
The first of our "Neither Beer nor There " series , we int roduce a bit of a different post today as we didn't venture to any breweries this weekend. We went on a craft beer tasting sail around New York Harbor which featured on our tour was KelSo Brewery located in Brooklyn, NY. In the future this series of posts may include wineries, cid eries or just anything we deem wort hy. Olde Burnside Brewing Company

The Stats Location:  East Hartford, CT History:  Founded in 2000, Olde Burnside prides themselves on " Using only the choicest ingredients coupled with [their] own unique pure water source located on [their] property." Food Service:  No (BYOF) Website:  http://oldeburnsidebrewing.com The Scenario Odd spot. Pulling up we really weren't sure what to expect and quite frankly, a little scared. The signs directing traffic to the back of the fac ility were small at best. The ground's history as an ice company is apparent with old ice trucks and ice chests visible in the parking lot. The space is completely outdoors under a tent which begged the question "what do they do in the winter?" When we approached these "brewtancial gardens" there were only two women seated at the bar (which only could accommodate two people .) The bartender was accompanied by an old jukebox full o f oldie s mu sic in a makeshift garage which was next to the ba

T hey  moved to their current location a few months ago from their former location a few miles away. They've been open since Feb 2013.  Food Service: No (BYOF) Website:  http://www.topshelfbrewery.com  The Scenario Very cool spot in a small business park with a large bar and plenty of space to play giant jenga, cornhole or one of their many board games (even a Foosball table!) They host many theme nights and trivia weekly. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and only a few fellow beer drinkers were with us at the bar. They currently only have four beers on tap which creates limited options but they do offer two flat screen tvs for those at the bar. The bartenders were awesome and gave us samples and a tour of their new brewing space on our way out.   The  Ratings Hazy Hop and Humid Su

Hello fellow beer and brewery lovers! Our mission is to provide the internet public with the best brewery reviews written by two average beer lovers. What started as a fun date idea has turned into a hobby and passion for us. Here is a little bit of our history as well as what we will provide in this blog!     A second date at Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford, NY turned into another brewery visit to Two Roads Brewing Co in Stratford, CT. From there the map, as well as our passion for beer, was born. Our mission is to hit as many breweries as we can while providing you with insider info and thoughtful reviews.     We are two average beer lovers. We do not consider ourselves beer snobs. We will not mention any “rich caramel malts” we will not discuss anything having to do with “mouthfeel” and we for sure will not provide a dissertation about the differences between a porter and a stout. All of our ratings are based off of our own personal tastes and therefore should be taken
