The Stats  Location:  Wolcott, CT History:  Shebeen opened in 2013 and has grown steadily since. They already are distributing their beer locally and plan to expand to the greater CT and NY area . The ir passion is creating "interesting and challenging beers" for the masses to enjoy. Food Service:  No Websit e:  shebeenbrewing.com The Scenario As is often the case, we missed the turn-in for th i s brewery. Although the bu ilding i s easy to identify with a huge S he been logo on the side, coming from the wrong side, we blew it. Approaching the brewery, you pass a bat h room design shop. Our question was, how many patrons get lit and bu y a new bathtub? Could be a thing. Walking in there is a "bar " to your right where you an o rder a pint or a flight. There was a large selection of beer we could choose from but Deanna came strictly for the Canolli Beer. Ordering a pint of the canolli and a flight of beer that was hard to choo se from, we en ter

Pies & Pints Restaurant & Brewery

The Stats  Location: Waterbury, CT History:   In 2011, Pies and Pints opened in a historic building in downtown Waterbury.  Food Service: Yes, menu filled with standard pub fare and pizza. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was definitely above average. The crust was very crispy and yummy ! Websit e:  piesandpints.biz The Scenario Located in downtown Waterbury, the parking is ROUGH. You are forced to find street parking unless there was a lot or a garage somewhere we missed but that seems doubtful. Walking in , we f irst used the wrong door since there weren't a lot of signage directing us to the correct entrance. When we finally entered we noticed that there is a restaurant si de and a bar side, we quickly took the road more traveled and chose the bar side which consisted of a f ew other groups who had just seemed to have finished a local 5K. The bartender quickly greeted us and asked us what we wanted . Looking at the beer menu we were disappointed to see th

OEC Brewing

The Stats  Location:  Oxford, CT History: The full name of this brewery is Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores which translates to "The Order of the Eccentric Boilers." This brewery prides itself on taking influences of lost brewing tradition from across Europe and combining them with modern techniques. OEC strictly brews sour beers. They opened their doors in June 2014.  Food Service: Light snacks. Soft, warm pretzels and bags of potato chips are available. On bottle release or festival days food trucks are on-site. Otherwise is BYOF. It's also important to note that in Spring 2016, they opened a bakery on premise. On select days, the bakery is open and baking breads with herbs and wort from their own greenhouse.  Websit e: oecbrewing.com  The Scenario First off, this brewery is in the middle of no where. The road that it's on can't be found on GPS yet. That's the level of "off the beaten path" we were at. However, the grounds of OEC are beautiful

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company

The Stats  Location: Elmsford, NY History: Captain Lawrence started out in an empty warehouse in Pleasantville but when they outgrew their space, the brewery opened up in its current space in Elmsford in February 2012. They now have a bottling line and more space to house their oak barrels used to make their delicious sour ales.  Food Service: Yes, including snacks and sandwiches. On our trip we tried the "Big Ass Pretzel." Most pretzels have far too much salt, instead of salt this pretzel has poppy seeds and sesame seeds which were fantastic. It was served with a beer cheese dip as well as two types of mustard (dijon and stone ground.) A very delicious snack to soak up our beer.  Websit e:  captainlawrencebrewing.com The Scenario    This brewery is pretty special for us. It the scene of our second date and the grounds for starting this whole beer-venture together. Therefore, it will always have a special place in both our hearts and our livers.     Captain Lawren
