History: Hackensack's premier microbrewery, The Alementary Brewing Company prides itself on making approachable and uncomplicated world-class beers.

The Scenario

Our first New Jersey brewery! Alementary is located in a relatively urban area in Hackensack, NJ. There are plenty of nearby parking lots but we got lucky with a spot right in front. Alementary is a relatively large space with a long bar and some long communal tables. We headed right to the bar and got our drinks of choice and sat at one of the long tables. While we were there we saw a relatively large space fill up nicely. The highlight was a tiny dog that seems to belong to someone who works there roaming around greeting the guests.

The Ratings

Let's Begin Sour-Gose
D: 3/5 - Not very sour and not much flavor. Smooth and drinkable.

 Witbier w/ apricot syrup
K: 4.5/5 - Going with the apricot flavor syrup was a great choice. So good and refreshing. 

Final Thoughts

D: 3/5 - This place was cool but definitely had a smell. I was excited to see that they had a sour but it wasn't as sour as I like. If we were locals this could be hangout for us depending on the parking. 

 K: 3.5/5 - I really enjoyed this place. Mostly because of the delicious witbier I had. That being said, parking looks like it could be tough if you don't get a space right in front of the place. The most negative thing about the brewery is the smell. I'm not sure if it was just the day we visited, but it smelled awful. Definitely took a while to get used to... if we ever did.

The Stats  Location:  Yonkers, NY History: Yonkers Brew ing Co. was established in 2010 with two friends who just wanted to brew "the sweet nectar [they] enjoy ." The Stats  Location: Bridgeport, CT History: Opening in August 2016, this brewery has seen much success already. The large space which was once the central distribution center for all out of town newspapers was found by the Barrett brothers who approached the long-time brewer of BAR in New Haven with the idea of opening a place of their own.  Food Service: Yes, assorted pizzas and salads.  Websit e: brewportct.com The Scenario Right off the high way, Brewport is in a fantastic location . We bster Bank Arena is a stone's throw away and it seems like Brewport is definitely trying to attract that crowd. With pizzas and salads on the menu, Brewport is focused on f ast fare , perfect for a night at a show or sporting event. OEC Brewing

The Stats  Location:  Oxford, CT History: The full name of this brewery is Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores which translates to "The Order of the Eccentric Boilers." This brewery prides itself on taking influences of lost brewing tradition from across Europe and combining them with modern techniques. OEC strictly brews sour beers. They opened their doors in June 2014.  Food Service: Light snacks. Soft, warm pretzels and bags of potato chips are available. On bottle release or festival days food trucks are on-site. Otherwise is BYOF. It's also important to note that in Spring 2016, they opened a bakery on premise. On select days, the bakery is open and baking breads with herbs and wort from their own greenhouse.  Websit e: oecbrewing.com  The Scenario First off, this brewery is in the middle of no where.
