Brix City Brewing

The Stats

History: This spot has been open for almost 2 years. High school friends started home brewing and before they knew it they were consumed by the craft beer world and decided to open up their own brewery. Brix City is "built on a passion for full flavored beers, the intentions of the brewery are to produce a wide variety of beers: Imperial IPA's - Sours - Pilsners - Stouts - and everything in between."

The Scenario

Our second stop on our New Jersey tour consisted of a stop over in a town south of Hackensack. The tap room was fairly large with a few tables of communal bench seating. The place wasn't too crowded and we were able to grab a table to ourselves. We posted up at a long table below racks and racks of oak barrels. It is unclear what they had aging in these barrels but I have never seen so many in a brewery at one time. Dozens. We both decided to try the Belgian blonde as this place had mostly IPAs and Double IPAs to choose from. We didn't spend too much time here but we were able to snap a few pics of our beer with the graffiti wall as a backdrop.

The Ratings

Gloria Belgian Blonde

D: 2.5/5 - Not too great, nothing special.
K: 3.5/5 - Nothing too exciting here but definitely drinkable and crisp.

Final Thoughts

D: 3/5 - It was an average brewery with decent beer. The graffiti was the coolest part and made for an awesome Instagram post.

K: 2.5/5 - The beer wasn't the best and the location we almost missed. The graffiti wall only looked cool in our Instagram post, because in real life it is filled with obscenities and poor handwriting. I don't think I would come back to this brewery even if I was in the area.
