Location: Glendale, AZ

History: Family owned and operated, Dubina boasts a Czech heritage while being in AZ for 50 years. Dubina is named after a small town in the Czech Republic. The idea was born in 2013 and the rest is history. The owners felt that they needed to bring some Czech flavor to AZ.

The Scenario 

Okay, let us say that this was a Thursday evening around early dinnertime when we visited. That being said, Dubina was EXTREMELY understaffed. It took us about 15 minutes to even be noticed at the table we sat at and, since we wanted dinner, were very hangry! Our server finally greeted us and asked us for our drink order when we finally asked if we could order everything all at once. Our server noted that we had just ordered one of the last two pretzels of the night we were both relieved and confused. How can a brewery/restaurant be out of a popular appetizer (which there was a special on) so early on a Thursday night? It wasn't long when our waitress came back and noted that they in fact were out of the pretzels. The rest of the food we ordered was disappointing to say the least, the waitress admitted they were understaffed for the night, and the beer was mediocre at best.

Gun N Roses

D: 4/5 - Nice flavor with a salty flavor from the pink Himalayan salt

Blood Orange Bell Road IPA

K: 2.5/5 - A nice sweet initial flavor followed by a funky, hoppy bitter flavor, not the best. 

Final Thoughts

D: 2/5 - I enjoyed my beer but the service was subpar. The fact that they said they had two pretzels left and then came back and said there were none? Unforgivable. I think if we went back and just sat at the bar our experience would've been better.

K: 1/5 - Maybe we went on a bad night but this place was really rough. The food wasn't good, the service wasn't good, and the beer was just ok. I don't think I would even give this place another shot if I was in the area again. Merp.

The Stats  Location:  Stratford, C T History: Fairfield Craft Ales opened in early July 2016 with a little help from the crowd-funding site, KickStarter. Mike and Joe have more than 25 years of brewing experience and have always been music lovers. So, it just makes sense that their dream was to open a brewery that serves beer inspired by music.  Food Service: No, they only have some chips and soda. This brewery is a stark contrast from its neighbor, Two Roads, just 3 minutes down the road. The small taproom gives this brewery a home-y feel. The first time we visited, we were greeted similarly to the locals on Cheers . We felt welcomed immediately and this time was no different. Although, FCA and Two Roads are very different structurally, they do have one thing in common: they brew good beer.

Pushing the limits of b eer making, Goldwater boasts over 14 beers to choose from . Goldwater opened less than 3 years ago and has two tasting rooms. A main tasting room and a basement tasting room reserved for cask ales only open on Satur days. There were spaces at the bar that were open but it was crowded for the s mall space.
